The ICP Triennial @ International Center of Photography

Every three years, ICP’s curators round up some of the most interesting contemporary photography and video works from around the world. The 2013 Triennial, A Different Kind of Order, focuses on artworks created in our current moment of widespread economic, social, and political instability. The exhibition will include 28 international artists who employ photography, film, video, and interactive media. Many of their works reflect the growing importance of new paradigms associated with digital image making and network culture. A Different Kind of Order is organized by Kristen Lubben, Christopher Phillips, Carol Squiers, and Joanna Lehan.

Arne Svenson’s Photographs Create Privacy Uproar

The New York Post ran this article claiming residents of a Tribeca apartment building are furious over being secretly photographed by artist Arne Svenson whose exhibition now runs at Julie Saul Gallery. The images are actually pretty good and in no way show any faces but how would you feel being photographed secretly day in and day out?

The ironic title does not prepare you for this haunting series about youth traveling by trains and on the lam.

A Period of Juvenile Prosperity: The Photographs of Mike Brodie (aka The Polaroid Kidd)

A Period of Juvenile Prosperity depicts the gritty youth subculture of freight train hoppers and squatters. From 2004 – 2009, Brodie created a prolific body of work which introduces viewers to an alternative lifestyle based on the constant movement of train travel across America.
